Custom Shopify section development for your theme.

When the section you want isn't in your theme or in the Abra Sections library, we write it. It goes into your theme like any other section, and your team edits it in the theme editor from then on.

When a custom section makes sense

Usually it's one of these.

The design doesn't exist yet

Your designer drew a layout that no theme or app ships with. We build it to match the design, and add settings so it still works when the copy or images change.

It needs your store's data

Sections that read metafields, metaobjects, a specific collection or product tags. A stock section can't know how your catalog is set up. A custom one can.

An app section is close, not right

You've tried a section from an app and it's 80% there. Rather than stacking workarounds on top of it, a section written for your theme does exactly the part you need.

What you get

A section your team can run without us.

The goal is that nobody needs to call a developer to change a headline. So most of the work goes into the settings: which fields show up in the theme editor, what the defaults are, and what happens when someone leaves a field empty.

  • A Liquid section file added to your theme, with its CSS and any JavaScript kept to what it needs
  • Settings and blocks named in plain words, so the theme editor makes sense to whoever opens it
  • A preset, so the section appears in the "Add section" list ready to drop on a page
  • Checked on phone and desktop, and on more than one page if it's meant to be reused
  • The code lives in your theme. You own it.

How it goes

Four steps, one section at a time.

  1. You show us the idea

A sketch, a Figma frame, a screenshot of a site you like, or a few sentences. Tell us your theme and where the section will go.

  2. We quote the section

Custom sections are priced one at a time. If something in the Abra Sections library already does the job, we'll point you to it instead.

  3. We build it on a copy

Work happens on a duplicate of your theme, so your live store isn't touched while the section is being built and checked.

  4. You review and publish

You try it in the theme editor, we make adjustments, and then it goes live on your theme.

Who builds it

The same people who built the library.

Custom sections are written by Abra, a boutique web design and development studio in Los Angeles. Abra is run by Ronen Hirsch, who has been designing and building websites for over 20 years. Each section is designed and coded under one roof, so it looks like it belongs in your theme.

We make the Abra Sections app, which has Built for Shopify status, so writing theme sections is a big part of what we do. If your project grows past one section into a larger store build, the studio's Shopify work covers that too.

Tell us what the section should do.

Include your theme name and a link to the page it's for. We'll come back with a quote, or a library section that already fits.
